they roared their terrible roars and gnashed their terrible teeth...

last night, eric and i read the giving tree and where the wild things are. i forgot how great these books are!

eric felt that the giving tree was sad and couldn't believe i use to read that one as a kid (no wonder i'm so pessimistic!) but the story reminds us how important it is not to just take from mother nature (aka the tree) and create a sustainable environment, one where you replant what you take. if you haven't read the story, i recommend going out there and getting it.

my favorite book, of course, is the where the wild things are. i love the story and the pictures. i love everything about this book. i also read the story like my first grade teacher with the deep/sinister voice... oh, spike jonze making a movie our of the book! *eeeeeee* very exciting...

Here is my favorite passage from the story:

And when he came to the place where the wild things are
they roared their terrible roars and gnashed their terrible teeth

and rolled their terrible eyes and showed their terrible claws

till Max said "BE STILL!"
and tamed them with the magic trick

of staring into all their yellow eyes without blinking once
and they were frightened and called him the most wild thing of all

and made him king of all wild things.
